Location: Côte de Beaune
Grape variety: Pinot Noir
One of Burgundy’s greatest wines, its character is in complete contrast to its next-door neighbour
Volnay. The wines of Pommard express all the intensity of the terroir and show the power and charisma of Pinot Noir. Victor Hugo, the 19th century French poet and writer, greatly enjoyed the wines of Pommard and credited them with giving him “a puff of inspiration and sometimes even genius”.
Adamas Pommard premier cru is one of the world’s great wines and benefits from a degree of ageing. It is excellent with roast lamb after a long walk in the countryside.
